Service

Our members have found that service becomes essential to their recovery program.

Meetings

Service can be as simple as leading a meeting, arriving early to help set up a meeting, or staying late to help clean up. Every meeting has other service positions available including representing the meeting at Intergroup, managing the meeting phone list, treasurer, recorder, and literature representative. Most meetings have a short business meeting once a month; attending a business meeting is an excellent way to learn about service at the meeting level.

Intergroup

Southern Arizona Intergroup of SAA meets the first Thursday of each month at
5:30 pm before the Grace Group meeting at Bethel Community Baptist Church, located at 446 South Plumer Avenue. All members are welcome. Attending an Intergroup meeting is an excellent way to learn about Intergroup service.

Service positions at Intergroup:
  • Group Representatives to Intergroup—elected representatives of each meeting
  • Trusted Servant—facilitates Intergroup meetings
  • Recorder—records what happens at the meetings
  • Treasurer—handles finances, including submitting records to an annual audit
Subcommittees with elected Chair:
  • Activities—helps plan and implement social and fundraising activities
  • Literature—reviews, orders, and distributes SAA literature to meetings
  • Online Presence—maintains this website
  • Outreach—helps carry the message to the public through various means
  • Phoneline—maintains our phone line to assist those with questions about SAA
  • Ad Hoc (temporary)—created by a vote of Intergroup, appointed and disolved by Trusted Servant

International Service Organization (ISO)

Both meetings and Intergroup work with the ISO and there are numerous opportunities to serve at that level. In particular many of our meetings send a representative to the annual convention. Members of our fellowship serve on various committees.
